A workday in the life of a Medior System Engineer
Ten to eight in the morning, you start up your laptop. You log in to Microsoft Teams and you start the working day together with your colleagues from the Service & Support department. Together you will discuss the open tickets and current affairs.
Then you view the incoming mail. You come across an email from a customer thanking you for the mail and server migration you performed last week. Compliments are always nice! You will get started with a ticket from one of our top clients. The on-site backup failed, this issue has a priority 1 rating and should be investigated as soon as possible. In response to this, you call the customer to inform about the progress. After you have successfully completed the work, you close the ticket. It’s time for lunch.
Time to pick up a number of other tickets, for example, a request has been received at the Service Desk to set up a VLAN at one of our customers to split their network traffic. The Incident Manager engages you to solve a customer login problem in their Azure environment. Thanks to your experience and analytical skills, you are the right engineer for this job!
At the end of the afternoon you have a meeting with our Projects Manager to discuss an upcoming project to which you will contribute. After this your day is over and it is time to go home, this week there is no standby shift on your schedule.
